2026 National Reading Week
To celebrate the event, our school organised a series of reading activities throughout April to encourage students to read more widely and explore different genres.
Activity 1: Themed Reading 🇨🇳 Students collectively borrowed themed book sets from the public library, exploring topics such as our Country, Chinese culture and STEM. This helped broaden their reading horizons and deepen their understanding of positive values.
Activity 2: Picture Book Workshop We invited local picture book author Ms Wan Pak Huen to host a creative workshop for our students. Using Pinocchio as the core story, she guided students to rewrite and create their very own picture book versions of A New Pinocchio Adventure.
Activity 3: Mobile Literature Exhibition *The Hong Kong Literature museum sent* its “Mobile Book Van” to our school, giving students the chance to explore and appreciate a variety of literary works while participating in various fun reading activities. Students also took part in a one-for-one book exchange activity on the van, giving books a second life and promoting environmental awareness.
Activity 4: Bringing Classic Characters to Life & ‘Read Together for Half an Hour’ Bringing Classic Characters to Life: Students dressed up as classic storybook characters, stepping out of the pages and bringing beloved tales to life right before our eyes. Read Together for Half an Hour: Led by Principal Mak, the whole school joined the Education Bureau’s “territory-wide” reading initiative, creating a shared atmosphere of quiet reading and enjoyment. Teachers and students immersed themselves in a sea of books together, enjoying the fun of reading.
This series of engaging activities inspired our students in reading, embarking on an exciting journey into the fascinating world of books.
